Election Day… Coming Soon!

November 2nd, 2008 by Letitia

I really am not big into the whole election/politic stuff but i do know we as Christians and Americans have a choice that needs to be made and not taken lightly. Sometimes we tend to not vote but this is one time that we need every Christian to stand up for what is right and vote. We can’t vote on popularity but we need to vote on values, which person holds the same values as you?

We need to PRAY that God will help everyone that is involved, whether it is the opponents themselves or we the people that will be voting.

Here is a clip to help you to PRAY and Remember TO VOTE on NOVEMBER 4th.

Happy Fall Everyone!

October 8th, 2008 by Letitia

As fall is fast approaching, remember there is a lesson to learn in everything. I found this story of the pumpkin. Take sometime and read it and think of how you can use this in your own life.
God is here and wants to be here for you. Let Jesus take care of you.

happy fall

My thoughts on the matter…

October 5th, 2008 by Letitia

My husband and I love reading the Harry Potter Series and love going and seeing the movies.  We do have children and maybe at this point in their lives they are not into the stories because of their age but when they are ready we have no problem allowing them to read these series.  Having read these books, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them other than they are just good stories for children to entertain themselves with.  Reading is a good foundation for children instead of always watching TV or playing video games.  So to encourage children to read I think these were some of the best series that have been published.  I recently read an article that I will leave the link for everyone to read as well.  The author’s intention was not to have satanic witchcraft stories for the young readers but to have good wholesome books that even parents could trust.  Instead this author unfortunately received a lot of criticism from a lot of people.  Instead of criticizing someone we as parents need to do our homework first before we give the information to our children as to why or why not this is not allowed.  Opinions are good but when it is used to hurt people, then that is when we need to say enough.  My husband and I raise our children on Christian Values, while our opinions and views are different than many, we teach them it is ok to have opinions but not to use them against others.

By the way for those that think, how could we read such series, please read the article and maybe you will see what we saw when we were reading these books before this article came out.

Fireproof: The Movie

September 21st, 2008 by Letitia

I am sure by now everyone has heard of the new movie coming out this Friday to theaters across America.  I would encourage everyone that can to go see this movie.  If you can, bless your neighbors, your local fire department, or anyone else you can think of with tickets to this movie.

Fellow Christians I urge you to be praying for people across America that will be viewing this movie, that God will truly heal broken homes, restore marriages, heal broken hearts, and much more.

Here is the trailer to the movie coming out in less than 1 week:

10. The toilet seat is perpetually up.

9. The only Madame Alexanders’ are on the mom’s dresser from her childhood.

8. Every room has nicks in the baseboards from heavy sneakers.

7. Every room has small round dents in the walls from wall ball.

6. The family room/den’s decor is (pick one or more) sports, sports, sports.

5 There isn’t any shade of pink in the house (except mom’s side of the bedroom).

4. The backyard hasn’t seen grass since the oldest son started walking.

My Savior, My God

August 30th, 2008 by Letitia

“My Savior loves, My Savior lives
My Savior’s always there for me
My God: He was, my God; He is
My God is always gonna be”
(Lyrics from My Savior, My God – Aaron Stush)

Have you ever just had a bad start to the day, to the point of being frustrated and overwhelmed?  My answer is yes, and I am sure that there are several of you out there that would agree, especially families that have children.
Here is an example of what one would look like: wake up late, you and your son (who is school aged) have 20 minutes to get ready for the day this will include both of you need a shower each, barely get him to the bus stop, you pray with him for his day to be good, wave at him as he is on his way to school , and then start driving towards work.  Of course about 2 blocks from home you realize you did not send the class snacks with your son, so you turn around to make a mad dash for home.  There you discover from your husband that we forgot to buy them and that you forgot to brush your teeth and comb your hair, so you frantically finish getting ready, of course now you will be late for work.  Your husband decides since he goes to work later anyway, that he will take the other 2 boys to daycare and go buy the snacks and deliver them to the school to save your day. Now your back in the car heading towards work and you hit morning rush hour traffic, by this point you are frustrated and annoyed with everything that is going on around you, which I might add you have no control over.  At that moment God knows where you are and exactly what you need to get through it.  You decide to turn on the Christian Radio Station,  there is a song that is playing and as you listen carefully to the chorus you suddenly feel God’s presence, you feel His arms around you and a sense of peace comes over.  As you are listening to the song you realize the only thing that really matters in life (other than your family) is your relationship with Jesus Christ.  He is our SAVIOR, He will ALWAYS be right there.  HE never leaves us, we may feel He’s not there but in truth we have actually stepped back from Him.
No matter what obstacles life brings, God was, is, and always going to be GOD.  He is consistent and never changing.  Allow God to touch you today in a way like never before.  He may do this through various ways like: music on the radio, a person’s word, a book, during your devotional time, whatever way He chooses be open and amazed of what God will do.
So the next time you start feeling overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated, annoyed, like no one cares, lonely, etc. please remember these simple but powerful words.

My Savior loves, My Savior lives
My Savior’s always there for me
My God: He was, my God; He is
My God is always gonna be…

Here is the video of Aaron Stush singing the song that really ministered to me on my way to work:

Enjoy a funny clip from Chonda Pierce.  She is an awesome lady and funny too.

Someone is always watching…

August 26th, 2008 by Letitia

An honest man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hit the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger-printed, and photographed, and then placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, “I’m very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the ‘Choose Life’ license plate holder, the ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ bumper sticker, the ‘Follow Me to Sunday School’ bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car!”

I saw this funny and decided I needed to share it with everyone.  Even though it is funny, it still has a lesson we need to learn and remember.  Our actions will always speak louder than our words.  If we want to share God’s love and our actions do not fall in line, how do we expect to reach others for him?

It kind of makes you want to sing the kid’s song: “Oh be careful little mouth what you say, Oh be careful little mouth what you say, for the Father up above is looking down in love so be careful little mouth what you say.”

Just something to sit and think about…

What kind of Husband do you want your son to be?

August 25th, 2008 by Letitia

Growing up, we as little girls would play house and then as we get older we dream of marrying the man of our dreams, have a wonderful job, drive a nice car, and have the perfect family.  Of course in my perfect family dream, I had girls and we would play dress up and play with Barbies.  Well…..

Back to reality, I did find the man of my dreams, he is totally great.  I have a good job, the one that God wants me to have at this point.  Our cars get us from point A to B which is all we really need. The perfect family of all girls.. well that one is a wonderful family with all boys.

When we had our 3 wonderful sons, no one gave me a book on being a mother of boys and how to raise them.  This is a whole new experience for me, I have struggled on how to connect with my boys but I have come to realize we play a vital part in our sons lives.  We are women, and someday our sons will meet that 1 girl they just can not live with out and will marry her.  But how does he treat a lady, what kind of husband is he?  He too will not get a book about women.  The best person to help him understand women, you guessed is US, their MOTHER.  Please list to this interview.  Be encouraged mothers of boys, we are important and we have something to teach our boys who will someday become gentlemen.  Please mothers take this time now and connect…  So I leave you with this question, to really think about: “What KIND of HUSBAND do you want your SON to be?”

First Day of School, We Made It!

August 24th, 2008 by Letitia

Well, last Wednesday was our oldest son’s first day of Kindergarten. My baby is now a school age child and is no longer the little man I use to change diapers for. Now it is, getting him ready for school and watching him as he walks like a big boy to the school bus. Wow, where has time went… Of course the first day of school, we (Mom and Dad) toke him. Of course when we arrived there were tons of other parents just like us saying goodbye to our kindergarten, taking pictures, and then walking back to the car alone with no child. All the way to the car, I have tears going down my face as I think of my little boy and all the milestones he has accomplished, ie: crawling, the first steps, eating real food, drinking from a cup, potty training, watching him become more independent. I think of all the good things he will learn and then I also think of all the not so good things that he may learn. It saddens me that my son, through going to school will soon probably have to face things issues and problems that I do not want him to go through. But at this point is where trusting and leaning on God to help us through it. I pray for him daily and that God’s peace and protection will be with him and that he will also be able to share Jesus’ love to all. My prayer is everything we have taught him here in our Christian home, he will remember and know that even when Mom and Dad are not around, that Jesus is always there for him.

So yes we have survived the first day of school, now we just have to help him make it all the way to High School graduation. Of course I have 2 more sons to send to school so I have a few more first day of kindergarten to go. Someone told me, don’t worry it gets easier as each one goes to school. I hope they are right.

My son of course he loves school and his teacher. He tells me everyday when he gets home all the fun stuff they did throughout the day. He loves riding the bus and making friends. I pray that loving school and the sense and need for education stays with him.

So parents out there who maybe are getting ready to have a first day of Kindergarten or have already had it, please be encouraged that we will all make it and that we truly have to trust in God as he protects our little ones while they are out of our sight. Remember our children are special gifts from our loving father, Jesus.
